The Danbury Fish & Game/Bill Lauf Memorial Scholarship

For 35 consecutive years, the Bill Lauf Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 is sponsored by the Danbury Fish and Game Club and is awarded by a committee of the club to a high school senior from the Danbury area planning on a career in journalism or the environment.

The award will be made directly to the recipient's college to help with tuition. The committee will make the award to the student who best exemplifies the qualities possessed by the late sportsman and journalist, Bill Lauf. These qualities include, but are not limited to, sportsmanship, integrity, humor, curiosity, love of the environment, love of his fellow man, and love of writing.

The annual deadline for applications is April 15th and the committee will interview screened applicants in mid to late April.  


The 2016 Winner was Mr. John “Jack” Hegerty of Brookfield High School. Jack will be going to Brown University in Rhode Island studying Environmental Science. ​​
